Company History
In the late 1940's and early 1950's, representatives of mutual and village telephone companies, and farmers without telephone service began discussing the development of a large telephone cooperative. After many meetings, hard work and dedication, this venture became a reality with the incorporation of Federated Telephone Cooperative on January 16, 1952. The original exchanges served by the newly formed Cooperative consisted of Danvers, Holloway, Correll, Odessa and Chokio. During the fall of 1970, a major construction project was implemented for the purpose of upgrading to a new private line system. In 1977, Federated Telephone Cooperative purchased the Milan and Big Bend Exchanges from Continental Telephone Company and took over operations in May of 1978. Today, Federated Telephone Cooperative offers local dial tone, long distance, CLASS and custom calling features. In addition, FTC also provides Dial-Up, *High Speed Internet and *Cable TV services. (*available only in certain areas) Federated Telephone Cooperative's mission is to provide the best communications services at a fair price; employing modern technology and up-to-date services; offering people choices to be successful and enhance their quality of life.
